Holidailies 7: Web shows to watch when you’re a book lover!

A lot of people know the tv and movie adaptations of Pride and Prejudice and Jane Eyre, what some of you might not know is that there are two awesome web series (hosted on Youtube) that are modern adaptations of those books.

I’ve followed one from almost the start to the end and the other one I’ve followed since it started. It’s great to see how these series can bring such well known books to a medium that isn’t that well known yet. Both are in the format of vlogging diaries. Vlogging is video blogging. The format has been going on for a while on youtube by regular users and now people are adapting it for tv series of well known books too.

Lizzie Bennet Diaries

This is based on Pride and Prejudice, it wasn’t my first youtube series to watch but it was the first adaptation of a book that I watched. The characters are cool, the acting is good and there are a lot of side channels that fit in in between episodes of parts that they couldn’t fit in well within the series but could fit in within the whole of the story.

It is already finished, there are 100 2-7 minute episodes that you can watch on the main channel. Check it out, it’s really cool!

Autobiography of Jane Eyre

Jane Eyre is one of my favourite books (I have to admit, I’ve never read Pride and Prejudice) and I’m loving what they do with this series. It is not as slick as the Lizzie Bennet Diaries, but the characters are lovable and they stick to the book really well. I love the girl who plays Jane, you can really see her grow and change and she has the same humour as Jane in the book has.

The series is less slick and feels more “real” than the Lizzie Bennet Diaries, the only downside to this is that it means that the sound is a bit soft sometimes. Really worth checking it out!

You should be able to spend a lot of time with these and some of the  series connected to them. I love these series, there are a lot of original series too and I might talk about those at a later time.
