Writing:

How to Write a (Romance) Blurb -> Awesome tips and tricks on writing a blurb. I especially like the tagline idea!

Nuts and Bolts: “Thought” Verbs -> We all know the age old “Show, don’t tell”. Well, this author explains very clearly what is meant by that statement and makes it all so simple!

Writing Clinic: Defining Genre -> Old (Aug 2011) post that I hadn’t seen before. Gives a great break down of some genres and explanations of some others. Great to look through if you’re not sure what you’re actually writing (or even if you are).

 

Being an author:

The Self-Publishing Survey Results – It’s a Brave New World -> Great took look at. She split down how much authors are actually making, what they price their books, what genre they write in. All sorts of cool things!!!

Increasing Facebook Page Engagements – The One-Two Punch -> Even though Facebook changed stuff around, again, since this post came out last week, this is VERY interesting and great to look at for authors!

New Adult Research:

I finished the last post to the New Adult Top 100 research last night. It was a lot of work over all but I’m happy with the things I found and I think authors can learn a lot from these, especially when they write romance or New Adult books, but even for other genres. (Or even if you like statistics, as you can see how things like averages and graphs don’t always agree on what it wants to tell.)

Preliminary results Rankings, box/books, Series vs stand alone, Point of view, Price, Print size, page count. Also explains about Average, Modal and Median.

Time and Reviews

Chapters and more on price and the “standard” NA Novel [LAST POST!]

If you want to see something really cool, check out the last post, scroll to the end and check out the differences between the two most average New Adult books there are, one is based on the calculated average and the other on graphs and tables. That is some real difference right there, and then think about why some research likes to show graphs mainly and why I showed both graphs and calculated numbers.
